Ethics & Compliance

Ethical Leadership

Leaders at Laureate have many responsibilities, but none more important than promoting an environment, and a culture of trustworthiness and ethical conduct, where results are never achieved at the expense of compliance with the law or our Code of Conduct and Ethics, and employees feel comfortable coming forward with concerns.

As a leader at Laureate, it is your responsibility to promote integrity and ethical conduct in everything we do. You can make a difference to those around you by how you speak and act every day. How you behave and lead sets a tone that guides the choices of others.

  • Your actions as leaders, even subtle nonverbal behaviors, can have a profound effect on the culture of your organization, to its benefit or detriment.
  • Take issues seriously and listen carefully to employee concerns.  Encourage others to speak up.
  • Treat everyone with respect, and insist that others do the same.
  • Do not send the message, explicitly or implicitly, that results are all that matters. Communicate openly and regularly that we must always do things the right way.
  • Get help when you are uncertain about the proper course, and communicate to others that they should do the same.
  • Do not let personal relationships interfere with making the tough decisions, and acting in the best interest of the organization, our students, and the community.
  • Never take adverse action, obvious or subtle, against anyone for speaking up honestly.
